Akari Chairman and Founder Receives Honorary Doctorate Degree

Carlos Lim Tiu, chairman of the board of Akari Lighting and Technology Corp. was conferred a Doctor of Technology degree (honoris causa) by University of Perpetual Help System Laguna in recognition of his contributions to technology and particularly to the lighting industry of the Philippines.

From founding his company Carlson Trading, a distributor of international lighting brands to eventually marketing, importing and distributing local lighting and electrical brands, Akari and Nxled, Dr. Tiu remains committed to bringing lighting innovations to give comfort and security in every Filipino home.

University of Perpetual Help System-JONELTA Chairman of the Board, CEO and President, BGen/Dr. Antonio L. Tamayo, AFP, FPCHA, PhD cited Dr. Tiu’s role in the business and trade of lighting and electricals. “That he has achieved commendable and uncommonly meritorious accomplishments and activities, both in the academic arena and in broader areas of benefit to society. Invoking the wonders of science through lighting and electrical industry, Dr. Tiu undeniably contributes to the development of science and technology by successfully handling and carrying out his multifarious roles as chairman of the board of his corporations.”
